Shane Campbell is a Ph.D student in the Psychological and Medical Anthropology subfield at USCD entering his second year. He earned his B.A in the Interdisciplinary Field Studies program at UC Berkeley where he was awarded high honors for his capstone thesis project. His academic interests lay in the global renaissance of Shamanism across national boundaries and cultures, as well as the re-emergence of traditional healing practices. He spent two years undertaking independent research in the Amazon and Sacred Valley regions of Peru, where he received extensive ethnobotanical training. More recently as a member of the Anthropogeny specialization track he is captivated by the evolutionary underpinnings of spirituality in both modern and archaic humans.
