Bio

How do we construct "meaning" from all the information that enters our sensory systems? This broad, interdisciplinary question drives my research in cognitive science, neuroscience, and neuropsychology. I use a diverse range of methods, subject populations, and stimuli; but generally my research hovers on the boundary between perception and cognition. I am consequently interested in what that boundary means (or whether it exists).

As of July 2009, I am an Assistant Professor in Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego.
