Bio

James K. Rilling is currently an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Emory University, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He is also an Affiliate Scientist at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, and a faculty member of the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience. Dr. Rilling and his colleagues use non-invasive brain imaging techniques to compare brain structure and function in monkeys, apes and humans, with the goal of identifying human brain specializations and informing our knowledge of human brain evolution. Dr. Rilling's lab also investigates the neural bases of human social behavior by measuring brain function with fMRI as subjects play interactive games with human partners. Dr. Rilling is also part of a  NIA-sponsored program project grant to the Yerkes National Primate Center, the objective of which is to compare the aging process in monkeys, apes and humans.
