Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of CARTA’s virtual public symposium, "Body Modification: Anatomy, Alteration, and Art," on Friday, February 9, 2024!
Even with Zoom fatigue, CARTA's virtual, public symposium drew close to 600 viewers, all sharing the experience of "Body Modification: Anatomy, Alteration, and Art in Anthropogeny," with us in real-time from around the world! The speakers, and their fascinating topics, attracted 599 livestream viewers from 36 countries/regions: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czechia, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Northern Mariana Islands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and the United States. CARTA is grateful to all participants who took the time to connect with us via their shared experiences or by expanding their minds with new perspectives!
Enjoy the symposium again to immerse yourself in our continuing human story:
If you would like to enjoy the experience again, or if you missed all or part of the symposium, please stay tuned! As usual, all talks, as well as the live audience Q&A/expert discussion, were recorded and have already begun to air on UCSD-TV. All recorded CARTA symposia are permanently archived on multiple sites, including CARTA's Video Archives, UCSD-TV, iTunes, and YouTube. Professionally edited recordings include high-quality closed captions to enhance your viewing experience. Closed captions are made possible through support from viewers like you, this time through the generosity of CARTA Patrons Ingrid M. Benirschke-Perkins & Gordon C. Perkins. We will share an update as soon as all videos become available online.
Support CARTA:
If CARTA has added value to your understanding of ourselves as a uniquely adapted species, you can help us to produce additional informative content and share it for FREE with everyone, well into the future, by contributing to our general-use Center for Academic Research and Training in Anthropogeny (CARTA) Fund.
With the immense benefit of in-person interaction comes greater production expenses as well. Every level of support helps us to revive and thrive in person. Full or partial underwriting is available for upcoming symposia. Email khunter@ucsd.edu or visit our support page for more information!
