Christopher Dean is currently professor of anatomy at University College London, within the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at UCL. Christopher Dean studied dental surgery (London) then human biology (Oxford) before obtaining his PhD for research on the comparative anatomy of the hominoid cranial base in 1983 from The Middlesex Hospital Medical School, London. After some years in general dental practice, Christopher Dean joined the Anatomy Department at UCL where his research interests currently include the comparative anatomy of dental tissues in primates and their usefulness in human evolution. Christopher Dean has co-authored two textbooks, Introduction to Evolutionary Anatomy, with Leslie Aiello (1990), and Core Anatomy for Students with John Pegington (1995) and has published extensively on topics related to his research.
