Hover over keys for definitions:Working memory is the temporal storage of information. Recent study revealed that chimpanzees could be better than humans in this domain of cognition. This has been called short-term memory pitted against the long-term memory. Cognitive science has been trying to reveal different aspects of memory process, the way of keeping the information. One distinction is declarative memory vs. procedural memory. The declarative memory stores the facts, in other words, it can be consciously discussed or declared. It is contrasted with procedural memory that applies to skills.
